Had a fuel line blowout on a Detroit 60 series in the middle of nowhere, Nevada.
The high-pressure line split right at the pump fitting. I didn't have the right flare nut wrench, so I had to improvise with a crowsfoot and a lot of patience to avoid stripping it. Anyone else have a good trick for a roadside fix on those old DDEC lines?

Oh man, that "crowsfoot and a lot of patience" line is too real. I had a line let go on a 53 series in west Texas and did the exact same dance, just praying the fitting didn't turn into a circle. I ended up wrapping the crowsfoot with a strip of inner tube for a little extra grip. It's a terrible feeling hearing that hiss in the middle of nowhere.

That hiss is the worst sound in the world when you're miles from anywhere. Good thinking with the inner tube trick.

Ugh, that hiss is pure panic. Had a brake line blow on a logging road once, used a piece of a bike tire and a hose clamp as a patch to limp it out. You just get real creative when you're alone.
