I was dead set against electronic injectors back in 2005
I remember when the first common rail trucks started rolling into our shop in Nashville. I told the older guys that this electronic stuff was just another thing to break and cost us all time and money. I was stubborn about it too, kept saying mechanical pumps were simpler and more reliable. Then I had a 2006 Ford 6.0 come in with a misfire that took me three days to diagnose the old way. I finally caved and bought a used scanner off a buddy for 200 bucks. That thing found the bad injector in 20 minutes flat. I felt like a dummy for fighting it so long. Now I won't touch a truck built after 2000 without a good scan tool. Any of you guys remember that switch or did you jump on the electronic train sooner than me?

Yeah, I remember that same feeling about electronic injectors. It's kind of like how I was with GPS when it first came out. I thought paper maps were just fine and didn't need some gadget telling me where to go. Then I got lost in a weird part of town for an hour and finally gave in. Now I can't imagine not having it. Once you see the thing work right, it's hard to go back to the old way.

Hang on, you got lost for a whole hour? That's wild. I would have pulled over and called someone way before that.
