Old timer at the shop swore by ether timing, still not sure
Back in 2014, a retired fleet mechanic named Dale told me to hit a cold 6.0 with a quick shot of ether before cranking, said it saved the batteries on cold mornings. I tried it on a customer's F-450 after the glow plugs tested weak, and the truck fired right up but then ran rough for about ten seconds before clearing out. Has anyone else had good or bad luck with that old trick, or is it just a habit that should've stayed in the '90s?

Used to call it a hack. Tried it once on a cold 7.3. Changed my mind.
