Question about a runaway 6.0 Powerstroke in a Walmart parking lot

It happened last Tuesday in Bakersfield, and I had to block the intake with my jacket to kill it. Anyone know a better way to handle that without risking a fire?

Ever had to do that? I used a floor mat once, same situation with my old diesel. Blocking the intake is scary but it works.

My buddy's 7.3 Powerstroke had a runaway at a job site last year. He ended up stuffing his whole jacket in the intake pipe because it was all he had. How much of the intake did you have to cover with that floor mat to actually choke it out? I've heard even a small gap can keep it sucking air.
