Saw a guy use a bungee cord as a coolant hose clamp on I-10 outside Houston

He had been running it that way for three months. Asked him why and he said the worm clamp kept slipping off. Made me rethink how I store my hose clamps, has anyone else had a specific brand of clamp fail on them regularly?

Buying a new clamp is cheaper than replacing your engine, but I guess some people like to live dangerously. Bungee cords belong in a moving truck, not under your hood.

Why would you even trust a bungee cord to hold something that could leave you stranded on the highway? I've seen those things dry rot and snap in under a year, especially under a hot hood. A metal clamp costs like two bucks and lasts forever. People act like they're saving time but really they're just creating a problem for later. What happens when that bungee lets go at 70 mph and your hose flies off?
