Serious question, who actually follows the torque specs on injector hold-down bolts?
My old mentor Bob swore you could tighten them injector hold-down bolts by feel, said the torque wrench was a waste of time. I tried it his way on a 6.0 Powerstroke last month and two injectors came loose by the time I got the valve cover back on. Now I'm wondering if he was just lucky for years or if I messed up something else. Anyone else been told to skip the torque specs and regret it?

Lol Bob might've been a great mechanic but his advice on those bolts is shaky. The torque spec is there for a reason, especially on a 6.0 where the injectors need to be seated just right. You probably didn't mess up anything else, just gotta trust the numbers next time.

Hold up, you really think following torque specs on a 6.0 is always the right call? I been wrenching on these things since 2012 and I've seen factory torque strips snap bolts right off in the head on these 6.0s. Bob might be old school but he's seen more broken bolts at spec than you'd believe. On these motors, especially with aftermarket studs, there's a feel to it you can't get from a clicky torque wrench. A quarter turn past snug has saved me more times than I can count.
