Shoutout to the old timer who warned me about those aftermarket injector seals

Got a 6.0 Powerstroke in the bay last week with a rough idle. My buddy said to just slap in new injectors, but this retired fleet mechanic at the parts counter told me to check the seals first, said the cheap ones swell up and fail. I pulled the valve covers and sure enough, three of the blue aftermarket seals were mush. Put in OEM ones and it purrs now. Who else has gotten burned by off-brand seals versus just going with the factory part from the start?

Same thing with those cheap valve cover gaskets.

My uncle's F-250 had the same issue with those blue seals... cost him a whole weekend.

Nah, those blue seals are actually fine if you torque them right. Most people just overtighten and split them.
