Switched to a fluid extractor for oil changes, wish I did it sooner
I used to always drop the pan on my 2012 F-250 and deal with the mess in my shop near Tulsa. Then a buddy who runs a fleet out of OKC showed me his pneumatic extractor, so I tried it on a 6.7 Powerstroke last month. The whole job took maybe 15 minutes with zero drips on the concrete, and I'm not shimming the truck up anymore either. Has anyone else made the switch, or do you still trust the drain plug over the tube?

Honestly that bit about 15 minutes with zero drips got me. My buddy runs a shop down in Waco and he swore by extractors for years. Told me one Friday he pulled the tube on a dually that had sat overnight, and it popped out coated in old oil like a slipped snake. He said that was the day he stopped trusting the drain plug entirely, even on his own F-150. Now he does every oil change with a tube and a pump, and he's never looked back.
