Tried using a cheap Amazon injector puller on a 6.0 Powerstroke and broke it in 2 minutes

Was doing a set of injectors on my buddy's F-250 last weekend. Picked up one of those $40 puller kits from some no-name brand on Amazon. First injector came out okay but the second one was stuck. I put a little more torque on it and the collet snapped clean off. Had to grind it out with a carbide burr and spend 4 hours extra digging the broken pieces out of the bore. Learned my lesson the hard way. Spend the extra cash on an OTC or OEM puller kit here. Has anyone else had luck with those cheap sets on stubborn injectors?

Did you ever think those cheap Amazon tools would actually hold up? I used to think they were fine for the price until I watched a buddy spend a whole weekend fighting a stripped bolt because his budget socket set rounded off on the first try. Now I just save up for the name brand stuff and it has saved me way more time and frustration in the long run.

Learned THAT lesson the hard way when my budget wrench turned a bolt into a shiny round knob.

Huh, I've got to disagree honestly! I've been using a cheap Amazon puller on my 6.0 for years and it's never let me down, even on injectors that were seriously stuck. Maybe I just got lucky with a good batch, but I think a lot of the hate comes from people cranking on them like gorillas instead of letting penetrating oil do the work.
