Vent: three hours on a fuel line fitting that should've taken 20 minutes

I was swapping an injector line on a 2007 Peterbilt 379 outside of Tulsa and the flare nut kept cross-threading no matter how careful I was. Turns out the old line had been over-torqued so bad it warped the adapter in the head, and it took me 3 hours of chasing my tail to figure that out because the threads looked fine at a glance. I finally just pulled the whole adapter out and chased it with a tap, then everything went together smooth as butter. Anyone else ever fight a fitting for that long only to find the problem was something dumb like that?

Tbh that adapter probably had a hairline crack you couldn't see, and chasing the threads just masked it until the next heat cycle. Worth pulling the head bolt and inspecting the whole bore with a flashlight before you button it back up.
