Why does nobody talk about how easy it is to strip the threads on a J1419 injector hold-down bolt

I watched a guy at my shop torque one to 35 ft-lbs instead of 10 last Tuesday and snapped it clean off. That little bolt costs $45 and takes an hour to extract if you're lucky. Has anyone else dealt with this specific bolt or is it just the guys I work with?

Oh yeah, "a drop of anti-seize" on a J1419 bolt is basically the automotive version of "just put it in rice" haha. At this point I'm convinced those bolts are made of chalk and prayer, not metal.

Honestly, I used to think people were just being dramatic about that bolt, but after snapping one off in the shop last month I'm totally with you both now. @terryh20 you nailed it with the chalk and prayer comparison, that's exactly what I'm dealing with.

You bet I've dealt with that bolt. That J1419 is a NIGHTMARE if you don't know the trick. First mistake is using a standard torque wrench, you NEED a inch-pound wrench for that one, 10 ft-lbs is really 120 inch-pounds. Second thing is always put a drop of anti-seize on the threads before you run it in, the factory coating is garbage and binds up. Also make sure the bolt hole is bone dry and clean, any leftover oil will make the torque reading lie to you and you'll overshoot it by a mile. I've had to drill and Helicoil three of those in the last year alone.
