Hit 12 countries in 18 months and something just clicked inside me

I crossed into my 12th country last week in Peru and it hit me out of nowhere. I've been living this nomad life for 18 months straight, bouncing from hostels to co-working spaces in places like Medellin and Chiang Mai. But when I sat down at a tiny cafe in Cusco with my worn out laptop, I realized I'd lost the whole point of why I started this. Has anyone else hit a travel number that made them stop and rethink their path?

Wow okay, that one hit close to home for me. Twelve countries in 18 months is a ton of moving around, and I've definitely felt that same wall hit out of nowhere. For me it was around country number seven in Vietnam, I was just staring at my noodles thinking "what am I actually doing here". The whole thing can turn into a checklist real fast, like you're just collecting passport stamps instead of actually living. Your mileage may vary, but sometimes the best thing is to just sit still in one spot for a bit and let the whole travel bug settle down.

That bit about staring at noodles in Vietnam really got me. I had the same moment in a train station in Slovakia where I just sat on my backpack for two hours watching people go by, completely numb to everything around me. Still can't look at a Bratislava timetable the same way.
