Just saw a stat about Lisbon's internet that made me rethink my next stop

I was reading a report from Nomad List and it said Lisbon's average public wifi speed is only 18 Mbps. That's way slower than I expected for such a popular spot. I was about to book a place there for a month, but now I'm worried about video calls. Anyone else had issues with the internet there, or is it just the public networks that are bad?

Public wifi is always a gamble. My friend tried to work from a cafe in Lisbon last year and gave up after an hour, said it was like watching paint dry. She ended up just using her phone's hotspot for everything. The place you rent will probably have its own connection, which should be way better. Maybe check with the host about their speeds before you book.

True, @nina_johnson86. I used to trust public wifi until mine got hacked.

Watching paint dry is right. I got stuck on a video call from a Lisbon library once and my boss's face just froze into this weird pixelated frown for a full minute. Makes you wonder why some cities just don't get it right.
