Pro tip: double check your travel insurance before that 'cheap' monthly plan locks you out
My backpack zipper broke in a random bus station in Medellin last week and all my stuff spilled out onto the floor. No big deal right? But when I tried to file a claim with my budget travel insurance they said 'baggage damage not covered under the basic plan'. Cost me $60 to get it fixed at a random tailor. Checked my policy after and yeah it was buried in the fine print. Anyone else ever get burned by a cheap insurance plan that looked good on paper?

Learned that one the hard way myself with a "comprehensive" plan from some website.

Oh absolutely, story of my life right there. Signed up for what looked like the most detailed plan ever, turns out it was basically just a list of common sense tips I could have found in a free blog post. Total waste of money and honestly kind of embarrassing to admit I fell for such a flashy sales page. The refund process was a nightmare too, had to literally threaten a chargeback to get my cash back. Learned my lesson about trusting those slick ads that promise everything under the sun. Now I just stick to asking real people in forums like this for recommendations instead.
