Talking to a local artist in Chiang Mai flipped my view on 'work-life balance'

We were at a small cafe and she asked me what I did for a living. I gave my usual 'digital nomad' answer about managing projects online. She just nodded and said, 'So you bring your office with you, everywhere.' That simple line hit me hard because it's true. I realized I've just been moving my stress to new backdrops for two years. How do you actually separate work from life when your laptop is your income?

Ever notice how we've all gotten really good at decorating our cages instead of opening the door? New phone case, new desk setup, new city to work from. Same old hamster wheel underneath.

Yeah, "moving my stress to new backdrops" is a perfect way to put it.

Actually, I think it's more like taking the same old stress on a trip with you. The scenery changes, but the feeling doesn't. You have to unpack the stress itself, not just move it.
