That chat with a host in Bogota made me rethink slow travel

Met a guy named Carlos who runs a coliving spot in Chapinero for around $400 a month. He said most nomads bounce every 2 weeks but locals barely remember your name after that. Hit different because I realized I've been treating cities like content farms instead of actually living in them. Anybody else feel like we move too fast just to keep the Instagram feed fresh?

Treating cities like content farms" oof that hit me hard because I literally just caught myself staging my coffee cup for the third time at a cafe in Medellin trying to get that perfect "authentic local" shot. Carlos is right though, I stayed somewhere for 3 weeks once and when I came back a month later the guy at the corner store actually remembered my coffee order but I had already moved on to the next city thinking I was somehow "experiencing" it by posting a reel. Honestly my Instagram feed is just a highlight reel of me looking thoughtful in different doorways while I'm lowkey panicking about checking my email and planning my next bus. I think we're all just collecting passport stamps to prove we're living our best lives but forgetting to actually live them.

We've turned travel into performance art where the audience is just as distracted as we are.
