Vent: My main laptop charger died in a Chiang Mai cafe last Tuesday

Was mid-project on a tight deadline and the thing just stopped working, no warning. Had to pay a local shop 800 baht for a sketchy universal charger that fried my battery within 2 hours. What's your go-to backup plan for essential gear failing in a random city?

Carry a universal USB-C cable and a high-wattage power bank. My 65W bank can charge a laptop in a pinch. I also keep a cheap, known-brand charger in my bag. It's saved me twice in airports when the main one failed.

You mentioned your 65W power bank can charge a laptop in a pinch. How long does that actually take compared to the wall charger? I've thought about getting one but I worry it would be super slow and drain the bank super fast, making it useless for my phone later.

Saw a tech blog warning about cheap chargers frying laptop ports. They said even known brands can have bad batches if you go too cheap. Your backup plan is smart, but maybe check the charger's output specs match your laptop. A mismatched voltage could cause problems over time. I'd rather carry one reliable charger than risk a cheap one.
