Warning: That coworking space in Medellin has a serious internet problem nobody talks about

I was working from a popular spot in El Poblado last month and the connection dropped 4 times in one afternoon. These places advertise "gigabit fiber" but they're splitting it across 50+ people streaming video and taking zoom calls. I lost a client meeting because my screen froze right when I was supposed to present the proposal. If you're booking a desk long-term, ask to run a speed test at noon when it's packed. Has anyone else dealt with this in other digital nomad hubs?

Happened to me in a Bali cafe once, a whole group of us just sat there watching the loading circle spin for like 20 minutes. The barista just shrugged and pointed at a sign that said "free wifi but no guarantees" lol.

Right, free WiFi always means no real WiFi. Total Luck of the Draw.

Ask @patricia_green21 if that Bali cafe was in Canggu where everyone has the same problem. The real test is seeing if they throttle bandwidth during peak hours - one place in Mexico City capped download speeds to 2mbps once the room hit 30 people. Did you happen to check if it was just a bad router or if they were blocking certain sites with traffic shaping?
