Wasted $200 on a co-working space I never used in Medellin

Last month I signed up for a trendy co-working spot in El Poblado thinking it would boost my productivity. I paid $200 for a month pass but only went twice because the wifi kept dropping during calls. Turns out the cafe downstairs had better internet and cost me $3 for a full day of work. Has anyone else fallen for the hype of these expensive co-working spots?

Wait, did I write this post and forget about it? Because I literally did the exact same thing last month, swore I'd be one of those "productive digital nomads" and ended up just people-watching while my Zoom calls kept freezing. The $3 cafe hack is honestly genius though, I spent like $50 on overpriced matcha lattes trying to justify my coworking pass when I could have just bought a bag of coffee grounds for my hostel and called it a day. But hey, at least we both learned the expensive way that paying more doesn't mean the wifi actually works in Medellin.

Those co-working places in El Poblado are more about the vibe than actual work half the time. WiFi dropping is a common problem in Medellin even at the fancier spots, so paying extra doesn't always fix it. The cafe hack is the real pro move, $3 for a day beats $200 easy.

Those coworking spaces have fiber and backup power though, cafes just cut you off after two hours.
