Bought a $40 sod cutter off Craigslist and it saved my back big time

Was gonna rent one from Home Depot for $80 for the day to rip up my 500 sq ft patch of dead grass in Phoenix, but found a used one on Craigslist for $40 instead. Thing worked like a charm, cut through the roots easy, and now I can resell it for what I paid. Has anyone else scored a killer deal on a tool that just made the job way easier?

Piper912's buddy must have found the one sod cutter that was secretly made of paper mache. Sounds like he got the "snap it in half for free" warranty with that deal. Guess some folks just pay $40 for a workout and a story.

Tbh my buddy got a used sod cutter off OfferUp and it worked great til the blade snapped halfway through.

Oh man that stinks, same thing happened to my neighbor last summer with a Ryobi one. The blades on those things are pretty thin, I cant believe they hold up at all for more than a small patch. Hope your buddy didnt have too much yard left to do when it gave out.
