Gravel or pavers for my fire pit area? I picked one and kinda wish I'd gone the other way.
Last month I finally put in a fire pit in my backyard near Tulsa, and I had to choose between gravel or pavers for the base. I went with pea gravel because it was cheaper at around $120 for a 10x10 space, but now every time it rains the stones shift and get all over the grass. Has anyone else dealt with gravel migrating away, or should I just break down and pour a concrete pad instead?

Gravel's a bit like a bad house guest, it shows up cheap then wanders all over your yard. I'd say pour that concrete pad before you start finding pea gravel in your neighbors' flower beds. But hey, at least now you've got a great excuse to do a little landscaping project.

You know, that's a perfect way to put it. I've had the same thing happen with a load of crushed stone that just kept migrating into the garden beds no matter what I did. Hope you can get that concrete down before it becomes a full-time job policing little pebbles.

Ha, @jordan_young knows the struggle. I read somewhere paver base is the only thing that stops gravel drift.
