Picked pebbles over turf in my Phoenix backyard and I'm sticking with it
Everyone told me artificial grass was the way to go for low maintenance, but after seeing my buddy's turf hit 150 degrees in July I went with crushed granite and decomposed granite instead. Cost me about $600 for a 10x12 area and it actually drains better than I expected. Anyone else go with hardscape over fake grass in a hot climate?

Don't crushed granite and granite dust basically just become mud when it rains?

Oh man, crushed granite is the move. Tbh fake grass in direct sun is just asking for fried feet and a heat island effect in your yard. Your wallet and your patio are both thanking you for that choice.

Right, because nothing says "classy yard" like walking on sun baked plastic carpet that smells like a melted shoe factory. Mud from crushed granite? Sure, if you dump a fire hose on it for a week straight. Regular rain just packs it down tighter, makes it harder for weeds to even think about sprouting up. People act like a little dirt is some kind of catastrophe when the alternative is basically a giant scouring pad that doubles as a lizard frying station. Enjoy your green carpet that needs a special vacuum cleaner and gives you static shocks, I'll take the stuff that actually lets water soak into the ground.
