Remembering when I had to pick between a wood deck or a paver patio for my first house in '08
I went with the wood deck because it was cheaper upfront, but after fifteen years of staining and replacing boards, I'm starting to think the pavers would have been the smarter long-term play, even though they cost about $4,000 more at the time.

Totally feel that "fifteen good years" part. My old deck was the same way, a constant weekend project. Just put in a stone patio last fall and I'm already loving the low upkeep.

Oh man, I'm with you and @skyler_thomas, a good deck is worth the work but a break sounds nice!
