Wasted $180 on a 'premium' pond liner that ripped in year two
Three summers ago I bought a 20x25 foot EPDM liner from a company called PondPro, thought I was getting the good stuff. By the second freeze-thaw cycle in Michigan it had a crack along the seam, water drained overnight. Should've just gone with the heavy-duty PVC from the hardware store for half the price. Anyone else have a liner fail way too early?

$180 for two years? That's like paying for a Netflix subscription but all you get is a wet hole in the ground. Sorry your fish probably had to move out without notice.

That "wet hole in the ground" line got me good... but honestly, having dealt with ponds for years, the real issue is nobody ever talks about how those fancy liners just can't handle the freeze-thaw cycles. You gotta prep the ground underneath really well, no rocks or roots, and even then the seams are always the first thing to go. $180 is steep for something that's basically a fancy tarp with a warranty that's a headache to actually use.

Preaching to the choir here. Had almost the exact same situation with a PondPro liner in year three, and it blew a seam right where they glued it. The sales guy talked it up like it'd outlast my house, but that factory seam was a weak spot from day one. For $180 you'd think they'd at least use a weld that survives a Michigan winter, but nope. Lesson learned, I'll take a heavy PVC liner any day over that fancy marketing.
