A talk with a retired installer in Spokane got me worried about silica dust again
He said his doctor just found early lung scarring, and it hit me that my shop vac with a regular bag isn't enough. What's the best HEPA filter system you guys are using now?

Switched to a Festool CT with their HEPA bags last year.

That Festool HEPA setup is no joke, but the bags get pricey fast. How often are you actually changing them out in your shop? I'm trying to figure out if the cost is worth it for my own dust control.

Change them when the vacuum starts sounding like it's gasping for air. I get a solid six months out of a bag with regular sanding. The cost still hurts, but my lungs don't.
