Just realized I was overmudding every seam for years
Used to pile on three thick coats on every butt joint in Omaha homes. Switched to a lighter touch after a foreman told me I was wasting 2 buckets a house. Anyone else change their mudding style after a specific job site comment?

Hold on, two EXTRA buckets per house? That is absolutely wild to me. My brain just short-circuited trying to calculate how many buckets that would be over a whole career. I've always been on the side of "less is more" because I hate sanding for hours, so hearing you were piling it on that heavy hurts my back just thinking about it. Foreman must've been losing his mind watching all that compound go to waste. Good on him for finally saying something though, that's a serious money saver.

Man, I remember my first job was at a bakery and the head baker would just toss extra flour into the mix without measuring. Boss came in one morning and saw a whole 50-pound bag just sitting half empty on the floor. He about lost it. "That flour costs money, boy!" It's wild how easy it is to just keep adding without thinking until someone points it out.
