Family expecting free skincare from me
Helping family with free skincare seems kind, but it can hurt your business. What's your rule?

Set a hard rule early or they'll keep expecting it forever. It feels awful saying no but free products train people to see your work as a hobby, not a real job. That discount you gave your cousin turns into her friend asking for a freebie too. Protecting your prices is how you stay in business, even if it means a few awkward chats.

Totally! My mom used to ask me for free stuff all the time until I had to explain it costs me money to make. It sets a bad precedent where people don't value your time or the product. You gotta be firm or they'll never stop asking.

When you said it costs money to make, that's exactly it. I make sure to explain my expenses early, so friends know it's a business. It helps stop those awkward asks before they start.
