My client from the 90s came back and asked if we still use the old steamer with the metal hood.
She said 'that warm fog felt like a real treatment, not just a pre-step,' which made me realize how much we've traded that slow, sensory ritual for faster, more 'efficient' machines that honestly feel a bit cold and impersonal to me now.

Sounds about right. We replaced all the gear that felt like a proper tool with stuff that looks like it belongs in a spaceship. My dentist did the same thing, swapped the spit sink for a tiny vacuum tube. Progress is just trading atmosphere for beeps.
