Rant: A client's skin totally freaked out after a sunburn last week

So last Tuesday, a regular came in for her facial, but her cheeks were super red and tight from a weekend at the lake. I told her we should just do a super gentle, hydrating treatment instead of our usual plan (no acids, no extractions, nothing). I basically just used a cool chamomile compress for 10 minutes and layered on a ceramide serum. She texted me yesterday saying the redness and peeling calmed down way faster than she expected. Has anyone else had to completely switch up a service last minute because of a client's sun damage?

That's a smart call to switch to a gentle treatment. Sunburned skin is so fragile, and it sounds like you really listened to what it needed. Good on you for helping her heal faster.

Totally agree with that. People often make things worse by using harsh products on damaged skin. It needs simple care, not more chemicals. Slapping on heavy creams can trap heat and slow healing. Aloe vera or a basic moisturizer does the job without the fuss. Letting skin breathe and recover is the real key.

What about those thick zinc oxide pastes people use for burns. Do they actually help or just block everything? Seems like it would seal in the heat you mentioned.
