TIL something wild about the skin on our hands
I was reading an old dermatology journal from the library and found out the skin on our palms and soles is about 1.5mm thick, while the skin on our eyelids is only 0.5mm. I mean, I knew it was thinner there, but seeing the actual numbers really hit me. It makes you think about how careful you gotta be with certain treatments near the eyes. Has anyone else come across a fact that changed how you approach a specific area?

That "tissue paper" feeling makes sense, but I've actually found the skin around my eyes heals super fast. I get tiny nicks there when I trim my beard and they're gone in a day or two. Maybe it's thin but it's also really good at fixing itself.

That part about being careful near the eyes is so real. I got a tiny paper cut on my eyelid once, just from opening a letter. Hurt way more than a normal cut and took forever to heal. Felt like the skin there was made of tissue paper. Makes you realize why they tell you to be gentle when you take off makeup.
