Overheard my old friend say I'm 'too serious now' and it stung

Last Saturday at a coffee shop in Austin, I caught my best friend from high school whispering to someone that I've become 'too serious' since I started my own business. She wasn't wrong, I think, but it hit hard because she didn't even try to talk to me about it in person. We used to joke nonstop for hours, now I can't sit through a full conversation without checking my phone for client emails. Is it normal to outgrow the goofy version of yourself, or am I just hiding behind work to avoid getting hurt? Has anyone else had an old friend call them out like that and felt weirdly proud and sad at the same time?
