Overheard my barber say 'friends are seasons' and it hit weird
Sat in the chair last Tuesday in Austin, and my barber was telling another customer that he had a group of 6 guys he saw every week in his 20s. Now he's 41 and only talks to 1 of them, maybe twice a year. He said it like it was just a fact of life, no sadness in his voice. That made me think about my own crew from college, we used to do a monthly dinner for like 4 years straight. I haven't seen 3 of them since 2021, but I kept feeling guilty about it. Has anyone else had to just accept that a friend group naturally shrinks without a big fight or falling out?
