Hot take: That mandatory virtual escape room felt more like a hostage situation
My company paid for an online escape room to boost team bonding during our remote week. We spent forty minutes staring at blurry clues while someone's kid cried in the background. Everyone raves about these activities, but I honestly think they create more pressure than connection. It would have been better to just let us end the day early. Forced fun over video call just doesn't work for me.

Honestly, after blurry clues like that, we just shared pet pics and actually connected.

Ugh, my friend had to do one last month. Her boss made everyone stay late for it. One guy's screen froze on a pixelated painting clue for ten minutes. Total silence except for someone's dog barking. They "escaped" with two minutes left and everyone just logged off immediately. She said it was the most stressful part of her week.
