So back in June 2021 I found a plastic container shoved behind the crisper drawer with no lid and something brown and fuzzy growing out of it. I mean, I sniffed it once and my eyes watered instantly, so I just threw the whole thing in the outdoor bin without ever knowing what it used to be. That happened right before I moved out of my apartment on Maple Street, and now I get a little jumpy whenever I see any container without a label in my current fridge. Has anyone else had a mystery item ruin leftovers for them permanently, or am I just being weird about this?
Tbh it still had liquid in it and somehow no mold, that's what got me. Anyone else ever open something older than your phone and just stare at it for 5 minutes?
Last month I found a container of sour cream from April hiding behind a bag of frozen peas. It looked fine on top but the bottom was a science project. I started writing the date on the lid with a sharpie every time I open something now. Also I put new stuff at the back and old stuff up front. Took me 30 seconds and I haven't tossed a mystery container since. Anyone else do the lid date thing or am I the only one who used to play fridge roulette?
